Employ me!
I am a highly motivated, dynamic and intelligent computer scientist/software engineer used to taking leading and designing roles in teams. I am looking for a full time job starting in August of 2003 in an interesting area - I have good references and experience.
...so give me a job...

job search is on with authority. many people echo concern, especially around here, that the tech job market is getting tough. i’ve managed to remain calm about it though, “its never too tough a market for good people” is what i say. unusually optimistic of me enh? well, lets hope i’m right.

saturday night
another saturday another excellent dinner party at Amanda and Allison’s...
during the course of the after conversation and schtuff they played some trip-hop and looking through their binder i found a Hooverphonic CD that wasn’t Blue Wonder Power Milk, which is the only cd of theirs that i have. turns out they have a cd coming out tomorrow, might have to pick it up. you know, their lead singer is a mere 17 months older than me, and already has 4 full length albums out, sheesh.

i make an impression on people... i guess. maybe.
tonight when taking out some guys to a late dinner at TGI Friday’s a waitress passing by stops, looks at me, comes down, squats next to the table, stares at me and says “i know you, don’t you wear a lab coat around?”
“erm, not usually” i say... i have a sinking feeling where this might be going.
she looks less convinced but throws out, “oh, didn’t i see you at a party one time in a lab coat waving around glow sticks like crazy?”
shit.
“yeah, i guess that was me... halloween party of last year...” i have nothing else to say. she eventually sees this, “yeah, i thought so” she says. she gies a looks like she got some sort of satisfaction in the identification, then goes back to work.
right.
i remember we HAD a halloween party last year...
(the lab coat was my costume, from my dad, it has “C. Lo” embroidered on the front, for those interisted)

i am so smart, i am so smart, S M R T! i am so smart...
the GRE made me feel like a champ today.
went to the campus doctor today, he hooked me up with a nice wrist brace. as i walk by a custodian on my way out, i smile and say hi (cause you do that at Rose), he looks at me and says “boy, looks like you had a rough weekend”. i laugh...isn’t that the truth. i have no idea how one can tell that just from wearing a wrist splint on a monday morning, however.
it occurred to me today that now that i’m so easy to find, employers might be coming to this page. i freaked and made the initial start page the seattle adventure. i’ve since changed it back to the blog, hopefully no perspective employers read about my whacky misadventures...
i guess wrist sprains could take 6-8 weeks to heal. crap.

you never know how much you’re going to miss the proper use of your left hand till its temporarily gone. right Tom?
my left hand got sprained pretty bad. i sprained it because i was skating at a Rose-Hulman open skate in the roller-rink of Terre Haute. i fell twice (i think). this arose from a fairly entertaining misadventure.
the day was filled with the normal pike day stuff, with an excellent waterslide and bbq action. good stuff. later in the evening Tom put on an excellent dinner at Amanda and Alison’s place, during which 5 people drank 3 bottles of wine. me being a lightweight, i was in no condition to drive, so my car was left at their place and i got a ride home. once home i did a little work, then i got into a bit of a conversation with Ariane, 10 minutes later we’re playing scrabble at her place, then we’re drinking with her boytoy on d3, now i’m running around with his roommates trying to get freshman girls to go to the skating rink, now i’m taking a double shot of pure everclear (ow), now i’m riding in the back of a car designed to hold two people... with three other people, now i’m renting rollerblades and getting shorted 10$ (i found out this morning), now i’m racing around the rink... surprisingly apt given my condition, now i’m talking to people and being a jackass, now i’m falling down, now it’s time to go.
going with the flow has never been so destructive, Kiefer thinks it’s Perenic-like. now I have a lot of people to talk to.
GRE tomorrow... goodie.

i think tonight may be the first and last night that the opening line “hey, are you guys in high school?” will land me a phone number.
the show (the suicide machines et all) was pretty cool, on the way there jimmers had the good idea of stopping at a liquor shop, getting some stuff, and getting a little buzz before the show. ingenious... except the part where he got a 40.
everything went according to plan, tactical strike out of terre haute executed to perfection. going to have to do more of these. let me know if you want in, or you know somethin good to go to.
yay weekend. go weekend go!

you feeling lucky? i am.

school has been going well, the first few weeks have been great: keeping up with my classes and work, even getting down the gym once and a while. as per last year, the increase in repetitive activities, means that the blog will become pretty stale. i hope to be posting works from my photography class soonish. photography is a nice class to take, i’ve found that going and shooting has been very relaxing. we’ll see what my professor thinks of my first roll of film on tuesday.

saw a show last tuesday night: Tom and i met up with Eddie G at the Vogue. Stick Figure was the opening act – after their set i got the bassist (a rather attractive woman) to have a drink with us. she left to go promote their cd at the concession stand just as the second act, Okgo, came on. they had some really interesting stuff, including a song that was quite reminiscent of soul coughing called “this is not the sound of the train”. unfortunately they don’t have an actual recording of the song yet so you can’t really get it anywhere. the headliner, Phantom Planet came out with a bit more energy then their music would have lead you to believe. solid performance and a nice closing act – the drummer held the audience captive for the greatest high-hat solo of all time.

saturday night we had a foam party, it was excellent, if you missed it you’re a total sucker.

school’s been going much the same as it usually does. working for Claude is good. photography is going to be fun. job search gets underway pretty soon here. i have a cell phone now, email me if you want the number, it’s top secret.
