This weekend proved that any good party can be made better by crying hysterically for no reason at all.

Ed from O'Hare: "Wow, there's alot of white people around here."

Ed has a ticket in hand. Let me know if you're coming (any time 26th->30th). Also, donations would be appreciated – call or email me if you’d like to set something up.

I haven't talked to Ed for 36 hours. I'm not sure what is going on... but I know that it is supposed to snow tonight.

I saw The Roots at the House of Blues tonight. Amongst their original songs they played a medley of short cover bits including parts of "I Am Ironman", "Crazy In Love", "Bombs Over Baghdad" (if I am not mistaken), "Push It" (what?!) and a bunch of other stuff. It demonstrated the crazy range of the band and Black Thought, who is by far the best MC I've ever seen. It was pretty awesome.

"I am trying to fly my friend Ed back from West Africa for Thanksgiving"
"Oh, that's nice of you. Who's going to fly him back?"
My mom is a smart-ass.

I actually spoke to Ed on the phone this evening - first time I've heard his voice in over a year. Things look good. If you want to hang out with us look for a flight to Chicago arriving on Nov 26th - it will be the easier day to fly during the crazy Thanksgiving weekend.

Everyone,
Ed is checking his availability before he commits. If you would like to help: try to find a cheap flight from DKR to ORD or STL from about 11/21 to 12/1. Either flight is fine as Ed wants to split his time between St Louis and Chicago, however I am finding cheaper flights to Chicago than St Louis. Right now I am seeing things for between $1000-2000 from this place. If you would like to help with the expense I'm sure Ed would appreciate it (as of course my bank account would) – however *I* would rather you come and see him in Chicago than help with the expense. Don't buy a plane ticket just yet - we still gotta get things sorted out. Also, if you want to go to the concert you have to buy tickets from the Park West - a deal at a mere $20.

Let's review:
1) Look for a flight that is cheap. This could help out a lot. DKR to ORD or STL from about 11/21 to 12/1. Also, pay attention to logistical issues like where the ticket can be sent and how quickly it can get there.
2) If this works check out coming to Chicago and to the concert (Tuesday night)
3) If we pull this off we win.

Dear Ed,

Your friends all admire and miss you. Yes- I speak for all of them. Muha.

Since I have been home I have not done much of consequence as I had originally intended. It has been easy to be distracted by money, girls, food and booze. Hopefully things will even out a bit in the next few weeks.

But enough about me - I bought you a ticket to see Blackalicous at the Park West (an excellent venue) on the 29th. I know it's short notice but I just found out today.

The date could possibly mean coming for Thanksgiving weekend and then the concert. I have looked into Gambia->Chicago flights briefly and found that my Intense-Yuppie-Platnium card will probably have enough credit. Perhaps a BJL (Banjul) -> ORD flight from the 23rd to the 30th? Let me know what dates work for you. If you find yourself reluctant to leave your responsibilities I will understand and attempt to give the ticket to someone who will appreciate it as much - it will be a challenge.

This offer dedicated to the memory Chris Shultz's "bachelor party" weekend where I was loaded with course work and exhausted and Ed just had his wisdom teeth out. Including the classic moment (Ed) "I thought the pain from my wisdom teeth was going to take me out tonight but those pain killers are awesome."

Your friend,
Alex

Last Friday I had drinks with Dave, Quinn and Kristin at the top of the John Hancock building. I had a $12 drink. It was sweet.

Quinn let me take some pictures with his camera. The building I work in is in this picture.

Hanging 15 glossy 8x10s in your drab cube is a surefire way to get your productivity disrupted. With authority!

After my camera broke in Thailand I have been looking at getting a more 'serious' camera - a digital SLR perhaps. Some of the guys at work have them and they seem really cool but I am not sure how often I would want to bring such a bulky thing out. Plus the thousand dollar price tag is a bit hefty. If anyone has any experience I'd love to call you about it.
