it could only happen to you... (where you is me)

alex lo adventures through life and thinks it's pretty weird...

    6:31 PM:
not sure how much internet i'll be getting after this (certainly not free, anyways).

my host has been very kind, especially considering we've never met. today i visited the danish national gallery and had a cafe lunch at nyhavn.

advice if going to denmark/copenhagen:
1) if you want to learn a bit of the language to sort of make an effort to be not so foreign, dont buy a small phrase book. danish pronounciation is soooo different from english it is a wonder we use the same alphabet.

2) the copenhagen card is a decent deal.

3) you dont really need a guide book as the tourist information office gives you plenty, including very decent maps.

going to prague tomorrow.

    8:30 PM:
things have been going great in (wonderful) copenhagen

thusday i went out dancing - i met some young lawyer who liked the idea of showing an american around with enough money to buy me several drinks. that was sweet. friday i checked out the city - the walking streets, Rundetaarn, Trinitatis Kirke and Nyhavnm; that night i went out again. Saturday i went to the Ny Carlsberg Glyptoteket, then to Tivoli, dinner with my host's family and a game of Go in real life (my first). tomorrow i think i am going to the castle and another art museum. monday i fly to Prague. sweet.

    5:13 PM:
in copenhagen safely. going out, i hope you're all doing well.

    6:19 PM:
In Scotland, it’s a beautiful country. After arriving I felt great, today I saw Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s Hill House which was great:

much of Glasgow’s center, a whisky distillery and the craziest lock system in the world called the Millennium Link:

Elliot has been a marvelous host (the use of his digital is nice obviously) and things are going well – I hope you all are well.

Europe planning is going pretty well, all I need now is for my rail pass and BMI plane ticket to get here and I should be set. Turns out I will be in Glasgow during the West End Festival. Cool. Also, I just remembered that Glasgow is home to quite a bit of Charles Rennie Mackintosh work. Cool. I am also looking into hang-gliding or paragliding around the hills of Scotland. Word.

Anyways, here is my updated travel itinerary:
June 19th-26th, stay with Elliot in Glasgow Scotland
20th: Elliot in Edinburgh
Fly to mainland 26th
Fly Glasgow to Copenhagen – use BMI ticket (E-Ticket)
26-30 Copenhagen with Jan
Fly SAS flight from Copenhagen to Prague
30th-4th Prague with prof Kukral
take paid train to Vienna (or elsewhere)
4th-?th wherever (possibly Vienna) (rail pass activated for the 4th)
hop around. get to Paris on 19th or earlier (rail pass expires)
19thth-22nd: Paris (talk to Nicholas about staying with him)
22nd: leave
If any of you have ideas for things I should do or see, let me know. You can email me at alex@*remove*alexlo.*remove*net

Also, a reminder to those in the area, I will be having my graduation party Sunday.

    12:39 AM:
I’ve had my fair share of nights out with Dave. I’ve had my fair share of insanity with Dave. But last night [Friday] takes the cake by a long shot. I can’t even begin to think about posting what I know on the internet for all to see, ask me about it next time you see me/call me/IM me...

Oh, also, earlier Friday night I went to the Q101 block party to see The Flaming Lips and Violent Femmes, that was excellent.

    2:13 AM:
Well tonight I booked three flights for getting me around Europe. For those of you looking to organize some flights in Europe, ebookers.com is pretty decent. It’s was fairly difficult to find a flight from Copenhagen to Prague, especially if you wanted it one way (thank you Scandinavian Airlines, they even have discounts for people under 26!). Also, BMI is good for cheap flights involving the UK.

Home has been good, drop me a line if you’re around Chicago – I’m having a grad party on the 15th and you’re more than welcome to come*. I have been working on my Department of Defense security clearance application, man it’s a real pain.

*If I know you
